Our background

MOABLAOU-SA is an industrial company of the poultry sector.

Its creation dates from July 10, 1987. Its name MOABLAOU results from a cutting of the names of family members. The founder Abou Simbel Ouattara resigned from the former National Cereals Office (OFNACER) to engage in poultry farming. The choice of this area of activity met a need for freedom of labor and utility in this period of revolution and also a passion for the modern breeding of chickens.

So, to start activities, the promoter chooses a relatively remote location of the city at the time, the village of Kossyam, where he implements his first farm with a staff of 500 layers. Gradually, he learned his trade and increasing its workforce to reach 11 000 laying in 1996. With rapid urbanization, the city boundaries extend to reach the village of Kossyam.

In anticipation of a future eviction, the promoter is prospecting a more remote location of the city in January 1996 and implements the second farm in the village of Nambé, located in the department of Koubri. This new site, due to its remoteness, allows to conduct production activities in peace away from the stress engendered by the proximity of the city. To ensure the supply of livestock, the promoter was buying food at a supplier based in Bobo-Dioulasso, the second largest city, located 365 km from Ouagadougou.

With the increase in staff, Mr. OUATTARA chose to produce its own food to reduce supply risks distance, but especially in order to master the cost and quality whole foods. Note that the power supply is the basis of raising chickens, the performance of hens largely depends on that and therefore the profitability of the company.

In January 1994, through a bank loan, Mr. Abou Simbel OUATTARA sets up a small factory unit with a capacity of 5 tons of food per day to meet the needs of its chickens. Most of the raw materials are available on the local market, the challenge was to find the best options at an acceptable cost.

Initially in the informal sector (1987 to 1994), the company became an individual one from 1995 to 2004, then a Limited Liability Company in 2005, and since 2007 it has turned into a Limited Company with a capital of 923 million CFA francs. Mr. Abou Simbel OUATTARA is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Directors with five (5) members.

The company employs more than 60 permanent workers and operates in three locations:

  1. The head office is located in Ouagadougou, sector 52 - Patte-d'oie, the administrative offices, the sales department - marketing and accounting of the company;
  2. The food factory unit, which is also located in Ouagadougou, sector 55 - Nagrin;
  3. The Poultry Complex is located in the village of Nambé in the department Koubri 25 km from Ouagadougou.

From eighteen (18) weeks the hens are fed with laying food (APD) which will accompany them throughout the laying period which lasts between twelve and fourteen months.
